About the award
The prestigious Lance Read Memorial Award is presented in memory of Lance Read, a valued former Auskick Coordinator who passed away unexpectedly in 2010. Lance was a kind, generous volunteer who devoted countless hours to the Yanchep Districts Junior Football and Yanchep Cricket clubs. This award honours his spirit of community, dedication, and passion for junior sport.

Eligibility
Traditionally presented to a Year 2 Auskick player transitioning into Modified football, this award recognises a player who demonstrates good sportsmanship, a positive attitude, and consistent effort and attendance at Auskick sessions. Importantly, the award is not about having the most talent, but about embracing the core values and objectives of Auskick.

Selection Criteria
The award considers a player who:

• Regularly attends Auskick sessions and puts in consistent effort.
• Demonstrates good sportsmanship and a positive, can-do attitude.
• Shows enthusiasm and dedication toward improving themselves.
• Encourages and supports fellow Auskickers, always willing to lend a hand.
• Is kind, thoughtful, and sees no task as too much to help with.
• Has shown noticeable skill progression over the season, regardless of their starting point.

The recipient of the Lance Read Memorial Award embodies the true essence of what Auskick stands for – fun, fairness, inclusion, effort, and community spirit.
