THE JUNIOR REDHAWKS: YANCHEP DISTRICTS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB
The Yanchep Districts Junior Football Club (YDJFC) is proudly based in the northern metropolitan area of Perth.
Originally established in 1993 by Mr. Graham Hailstones (Life Member) as a free ball (Auskick) centre, the club was initially called
Sun City Dolphins. As our local community evolved, so too did the club. Embracing a stronger rural identity, we officially became
the Yanchep Districts Junior Football Club in 2000, now affectionately known as the Junior Redhawks.
YDJFC is a non-profit, volunteer-run club dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for children
aged 5 to 17 years. We offer a range of football programs designed to suit all ages and abilities, including:
– Auskick (Pre-Primary – Year 2)
– Junior / Modified Rules (Year 3 – Year 6)
– Youth / Open Rules (Year 7 – Year 12)
– All Girls Competitions
We welcome all participants with an interest in Australian Rules Football and are committed to fostering the values of
teamwork, respect, enjoyment and junior sportsmanship.
Yanchep Districts Junior Football Club continues to grow and compete against other junior clubs within the West Perth District. In 2010, the club saw the Under 13 team win the club’s first Premiership flag and the Under 14 team with the Runner Up Premiership flag. In 2011, the Under 14 team once again won the Runner Up Premiership flag.
In 2012, the club had grown enough to allow for 8 teams to be registered for competition (Year 4 – Year 11) and had an estimated 80 Auskick players. This number has gone on to grow to 12 mixed teams, including 3 girls teams and over 130 Auskick players for the 2022 season. We look forward to an even bigger and brighter future for the club in 2026!
Our home ground is Splendid Park, located on Splendid Avenue, Yanchep, where our players, families and volunteers come
together each season to create a strong and connected football community.

Coaching
Our coaches at YDJFC plan and lead training sessions with the aim of helping players improve at playing AFL. Our coaches help develop the skills, motivation and fitness of our players and teams, and they also organise and provide leadership for the team and volunteers in competitive matches.
To be a good football coach, you need to have good people, communication and leadership skills, as well as good organisational skills and attention to detail. You need to be personable, approachable and able to build relationships with your players.

GET INVOLVED
Volunteering enriches our lives in so many ways. It creates opportunities to learn more about footy, be active and get outdoors. It encourages us to engage and connect with our children, each other and our community.
Like any junior footy club, YDJFC relies on the generosity and commitment of our volunteers, both during and outside the footy season.
